Fall into Quilting Adventures
September 12 - 15, 2010
and study with Sue Spargo

Journey Quilt by Sue Spargo

TRAVEL JOURNALS

Use your own life experiences to create a one-of-a-kind 'fabric journal quilt' using textural fabrics, hand dyed wools, embellishments and ethnic beads.

We will start with a textural pieced background using a combination of fabrics and then develop an appliquéd tree or village which will be filled with your own journey. The use of imagery using wool, taffeta silk, silk velvet and cotton appliqué as well as dimension stacking of fabric, couching, embroidery stitches, beads and words will be explored.

You will finish by designing an outer border that will enhance your own quilt.

Note from Sue: "Although my love is hand work, I will also cover many different ways to machine stitch hand dyed wool and fabric using dimension."

Sue comes to us from Uniontown, Ohio and brings a wealth of life experience molding her folk art love. She was born and educated in Zambia and South Africa, lived in England, and has traveled throughout the world. Sue has called the United States home since 1989.
