Quilting Adventures - Hill Country Style
Seminar 2: March 5 - 10, 2006

What have you been up to lately?
In addition to designing patterns and teaching, I've had the pleasure of designing a fabric line for Maywood Studio.  It's called 'He Loves Me,' and features daisies, my favorite flower.  'He Loves Me' had its debut in October.  Now, I'm working on the next fabric line -- such fun!!

What part of a quilt is your favorite?
The electric needle creates a total fascinating environment for me. I'd rather cut and piece a quilt than nearly anything else I can think of doing. Actually, the entire process is a hoot. From the moment a design idea is sparked, it's fun to help it grow into a quilt pattern, and then to stitch it, and see it come to life --- well, life just doesn't get any better!

Where do you get your inspiration?
Ideas just seem to pop up from out of the blue. When I feel like I need 'space' to expand a design, I go for a wilderness hike.

What colors do you prefer?
In truth, I like any color as long as it's blue. But, for quilts, I work in every color under the sun, and love that opportunity!

Any trips recently?
'05 was full of teaching travel. It seemed that sometimes I didn't have time to catch up between trips. It's been fabulous to be home all of November & December, except for a family visit. '06 is the beginning of my more 'laid back' teaching plan - by choice I've cut back to 80 nights on the road (from 110!). I thoroughly enjoy seeing the world, as well. I've been blessed with teaching trips 3 times to Australia and to the United Arab Emirites. This past summer I vacationed in China with my cousin -- I was keen to experience the Yangtze River before it reached its peak.

How do you like living in Montana ?
We stumbled into finding this pristine little town, and absolutely love it here. Lots of hiking opportunities, and the people are superb!

What other interests do you have?
Hiking, and seeing the great outdoors. The past 3 summers, Jery & I have vacationed on horseback -- seeing the wilderness around us that's deeper than our legs would carry us.

Jackie has written 12 books (including Weaver Fever, Quilts in the Tradition of Frank Lloyd Wright, & Tessellations), and dozens of patterns , which can all be seen at http://www.animas.com .
