Printable Hill Country Photographs

Our webmaster Sharon loved the hill country photographs that Barbara's husband John supplied for many of the images you see on our website. She talked us into sharing some of the same photos as full-size images that our web site visitors can print to fabric. (If you don't know how to print photos to fabric, visit the Printing to Fabric page where Sharon shares the fabric printing techniques that she teaches.)

Options for Printing to Fabric
If you intend to wash projects printed with an inkjet printer, the fabrics must be specially treated before printing. There are many options available today. You can purchase ready-to-use fabric sheets available at many quilting stores. If you are a do-it-yourself type person or have a lot of images to print and wish to save money, you can use a product called Bubble Jet Set 2000 to make 100% cotton and 100% silk fabrics ready for printing. Our Printing to Fabric page provides detailed instructions on using Bubble Jet Set 2000.

Each of the photos below links to a larger image which can be printed, so just click the photo that you'd like to see or print. In order to leave as much room as possible for the really big images and to prevent unnecessary ink usage, you will be linked to a page with just the image. After printing, use your browser's BACK button to return to this page. Please realize that these are really big files so that you can get really nice photo prints. (File sizes and approximate printed sizes are listed below each image.) Look below the pictures for more discussion about how large these images might print.

Please note: when printing from a browser, all of the wide images should be printed in landscape mode so that they will print as big as possible down the length of the page.

Image Size Discussion
There are two image sizes listed below each image. The first is an estimate of the size the image will print in Netscape or Internet Explorer. The second is based on the size that the image will print from a Microsoft Paint or from a standard image editing program if you download the image. The files will print at 150 dpi resolution from the image editing programs and MS Paint, so they will print smaller, but look more in-focus. From a browser, the image will print at a resolution of 72 dpi, making it bigger, but less focused.

There are many variables that can impact how big the images will actually print from your computer, including: your printer driver and settings, the software you use as well as any printing options you choose. Your best bet is to experiment by printing black and white versions of the image until you've found the method that prints the size you'd like. Only then should you print the image in color to fabric.

If you need to print the image to a specific size, you are welcome to download the image and use your own image editing software to print it. To download a full size image just click the desired image's thumbnail, then right-click on the large image to bring up the shortcut menu. In Netscape, use the "Save Image As" option to save the image to your hard drive. In Internet Explorer, look for the "Save Picture As" option. (Again, please note that these steps may be slightly different in each browser.)

Have fun with these images!
