Purple CowHow did one book cause so many quilters to have a cow?

It all started with a purple cow.  Mary Lou Weidman’s latest book “Out of the Box with Easy Blocks” provided the pattern.  A herd of quilters got excited.  And soon there was a stampede of whimsical cows on quilts.

Like Mary Lou’s ”Out of the Box” book series, this class will be full of color and easy piecing fun. Mary Lou will show you how to make simple and quick cows of all kinds that will unleash your inner artist and get you thinking clever, thinking expressive and thinking funny. Imagine PsyCOWdelic, MOOdy Blues, MOOnlight Madness, DeCALF or HalfCALF, and MOOey Christmas! She will also show you “Flower Power” flowers in different styles and shapes that can adapt to any season: daisies, poppies, tulips, periwinkles…whimsical flowers of all kinds.

Visit our Cow & Flower Power Inspiration Gallery to see quilts made by Mary Lou Weidman and many of her students. Mary Lou’s website and her two blogs, Mary Lou and Whimsy Too and Mary Lou and Cherries Too, also have loads of cow & flower power quilts.
